Application Steps for Documented .TR Extension Domains

The following documents must be submitted for documented domain registration:

To Upload the Documents:

  1. Log in to your reseller panel.
  2. From the Domain List menu, select the relevant domain name.
  3. Click the pencil icon on the right to open the domain details.
  4. Click on the General Information > .TR Application and Document Management section.
  5. In the menu that opens, upload the documents under the “Upload Document” section and click the “Submit Documents” button.

Required Document Details

For Companies:

  • Certificate of Activity issued by the Chamber of Commerce, Trade Registry Certificate, Chamber Registration Certificate, or the trade name announcement published in the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette.
    (The certificate of activity must have been issued within the last 6 months.)
  • Registration Certificate obtained from the Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen of Turkey or the Trade Registry Gazette

For Trademark Certificate Holders:

  • Domain Name Allocation Form (petition)
  • Trademark Registration Certificate or Trademark Application Certificate obtained from the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office
  • The requested domain name must be exactly the same as the name on the trademark certificate.
  • If the trademark owner is an individual, a copy of their ID card
  • If there has been a transfer of the trademark, the Trademark Transfer Agreement obtained from TÜRKPATENT
  • If the trademark is registered in the name of more than one person, copies of the ID cards of all persons and their signed petitions

For Natural Persons (Individuals):

  • Copy of ID card, passport, etc.

Important Note:

All domain names must exactly match the title stated in the submitted documents. When evaluating the documents, the main criterion is the distinctive part of the trademark or trade name.

Example:
“ÖRNEK Tekstil Yatırım İthalat İhracat Sanayi Ticaret A.&Ş.” can only register domain names such as ornek.com.tr or ornektekstil.com.tr; it cannot register generic names such as tekstil.com.tr or ticaret.com.tr.

Special Cases for Documented .TR Extension Domains

Under the .TR extension, some domain names can be registered by submitting documentation. When domain names containing the following words are registered, the relevant documents must be uploaded via the reseller panel by the company or individual:

  • Domain names containing the words Türk, Türkiye, Atatürk or TC
  • Domain names containing the name of a province or district
  • Banks
  • Financial leasing companies
  • Factoring companies
  • Financing companies
  • Financial holding companies
  • Asset management companies
  • Turkish representative offices of foreign banks
  • Institutions authorized to operate under Law No. 5654
  • Domain names containing the words “finans”, “finance”, “finansman”, “bank”, “banka”, “lease”, “leasing”, “finansalkiralama”, “factoring”, “faktoring”
  • Insurance companies and insurance agencies
    (A corporate extension e-mail address is mandatory for insurance agencies.)

dr.tr Allocated to medical doctors and doctor partnerships. Diploma or graduation certificate (notarized). If there is a partnership, a certificate for each person. Authorization document.
edu.tr Allocated to institutions recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Request letter signed by the authorized person. Authorization document for non-public institutions.
gov.tr Allocated to public institutions and organizations. Official request letter signed by the competent authority.
k12.tr Allocated to institutions affiliated with or approved by the Ministry of National Education (MEB). Request letter signed by the authorized person. Establishment permit (notarized). Authorization document.
kep.tr Allocated to Registered E-Mail (KEP) service providers. Document showing the authority to act on behalf of the KEPHS.
pol.tr Allocated to the units of the General Directorate of Security. Official request letter signed by the competent authority.
tsk.tr Allocated to the units of the Turkish Armed Forces. Official request letter signed by the competent authority of the General Staff.
